What you’ll discover
Scaling a chiropractic practice from £45,000 to £90,000 in monthly revenue might sound like a daunting task, but with the right strategies and mindset, it's more achievable than you might think. Today, we're going to dive into what scaling really means for your practice, the first principles of growth and scale, and how you can apply the asymmetrical scale model to achieve disproportionate results.
What is Scaling Scaling, in the context of a chiropractic clinic, involves expanding the capacity of your business to handle a larger client load without compromising service quality. This means not just attracting more patients, but also enhancing your systems and team to support growth. Scaling is about doing more and doing it better—think more new patients, more team members, and higher client retention rate.
First Principles of Growth and Scale
The concept of first principles thinking involves breaking down complicated problems into basic elements and then reassembling them from the ground up. For chiropractic clinic owners, this means looking at the fundamentals of your business to find unique opportunities for growth. When I work with private clients, I often use the example of a house. The house (as a project) is a complicated structure. Building it is also a very confusing and complex task - however, if you break it down to its most fundamental principles - the only way to build a house is to lay the first brick down. So, next time you’re trying to come up with a solution to a complex problem, try breaking it down to its more fundamental and simple parts.
Increase in Clients & Conversion
Your ability to attract and convert new patients is the lifeline of your clinic. Enhancing your marketing strategies, refining your sales funnel, and ensuring your patient onboarding process is smooth can significantly increase your patient intake and conversion rates. Consider digital marketing strategies such as SEO, pay-per-click advertising, and social media marketing to reach a wider audience. In my new program (The Perfect Practice Playbook) - I teach clinic owners 23 ways to bring new patients in (consistently and predictably).
Increase in Value Delivery
Delivering exceptional value to your patients is what will differentiate your clinic from the competition. This doesn’t just mean offering quality chiropractic care, but also providing a holistic service experience that addresses patient needs and concerns. Implementing regular training for your staff, using advanced treatment techniques, and providing outstanding customer service can lead to better patient outcomes and higher retention rates. Honestly, I can write a book on this section alone! If you have any specific questions on how to deliver outstanding results and increase the value your clients receive - just drop me a message and I can try and help you.
Streamlined Company Structure
As your clinic grows, so too should your internal structure. This means developing efficient processes that help your team manage increased patient volume without a drop in service quality. Automating administrative tasks, using chiropractic management software, and creating clear protocols for patient care can help streamline operations and reduce overhead costs. This point here is probably the number one thing we did to go from £45k to £90-95k/m. It’s impossible to grow AND keep the quality of your service outstanding unless you have great SOPs, best practices, systems and softwares in place.
The Asymmetrical Scale Model
The asymmetrical scale model is about finding strategies within your clinic that yield high results with relatively low input. For instance, automating appointment reminders and follow-ups can free up significant administrative time while improving patient retention. Another example could be implementing a referral program that encourages current patients to refer friends and family, exponentially increasing your new patient intake without corresponding increases in marketing spend.

Example: Doubling Revenue by Streamlining Operations
Let’s consider a real-life example from a chiropractic clinic that successfully doubled its revenue. By analysing their patient flow and staff activities, the clinic identified bottlenecks in patient registration and billing processes. They implemented an online registration system that patients could complete before their visit and upgraded their billing software to handle more transactions efficiently. These changes reduced waiting times, improved patient satisfaction, and allowed them to serve more patients each day without needing to increase their staff significantly.
Conclusion
Scaling your chiropractic practice to achieve £90k per month is not just about working harder but working smarter. By applying first principles thinking to your growth strategy and focusing on asymmetrical scale models, you can achieve significant growth with less effort. Remember, the key to successful scaling is maintaining the quality of care that your patients have come to expect while continuously seeking ways to streamline and improve your business operations.
Start by evaluating your current processes, identify areas for improvement, and don’t be afraid to innovate. With these strategies in place, you’ll be well on your way to doubling your revenue and more.
